Your pet, our passion
Meet the Team at Yarrabilba Vet
Our Veterinarians
Dr Chris Corcoran
Veterinarian BVSc
Chris graduated from University of Queensland and joined Andrew at Tamborine Mountain in 2002. He moved across to the Canungra Surgery in 2005 and spent many years there cementing the practice as part of the local community. Since 2017 Chris has been leading the team at our state-of-the-art Yarrabilba Hospital.
Chris has a special interest in reproduction and most weeks see him performing pre-breeding checks, caesarean sections and vaccinating litters of puppies & kittens. When he’s not working hard, Chris is kept busy with his family’s sporting commitments.
Dr Suki Walton
Veterinarian BVSc
Suki joined us as a new graduate from James Cook University in 2019 and luckily for us, has decided to stay. Suki grew up in South East Asia before giving in to the temptations of Australia’s beaches. She has a particular interest in surgery and is well known as our resident ‘crazy-cat lady’.
Suki is our artist in residence and when not helping your pets feel better she loves to paint and sketch. She is also our flying vet in the making, having just obtained her recreational pilots license.
Dr Niki Ohlwein
Veterinarian BVSc
Niki has a strong desire in creating a positive relationship between vet-client-and pet and looks forward to meeting everyone that comes through the doors and their fur babies.
Dr Lily Betzien
Veterinarian BVSc
Dr Lily Betzein graduated in 2020 and worked at a rural mixed practice in Mildura for the first 2 years of her career. She moved back home to Queensland and joined us in early 2022.
Lily enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but has a soft spot for our feline friends.
When she is not at work Lily can be found riding her horses or sitting quietly sewing.
She is owned by her cat Mallee.
Dr Maddy Lansdown
Veterinarian BVSc
Maddy joined the team as a new graduate in 2023 after graduating from University of Queensland. After growing up in Brisbane and then studying out at Gatton, Maddy pursued her dream of living near the ocean and moved to the Gold Coast. Maddy enjoys the variety of work in general practice, with an equal interest in both surgery and medicine. She predominantly works with small animals, however she won’t turn down an opportunity to work with goats, alpacas, sheep or cattle! Maddy also has an interest in shelter medicine and animal rescues, being an avid foster parent and having a rescue dog, cat and chickens of her own. Prior to working with us, Maddy spent a month in the Cooks Islands volunteering as a vet, and she plans to do many more trips like it in the future.
Outside of her veterinary life, you will find Maddy at the beach, camping or growing veggies in her backyard. To mix it up, Maddy loves all things photography and also owns a videography business with her partner.
Our Support Staff
Sarah
Head Veterinary Nurse
Sarah came to us 2 years ago looking for work experience to begin a new chapter in her life as a veterinary nurse.
After 2 years of hard work and a complete career “sea change” she couldn’t be happier. Sarah is now working fulltime at Yarrabilba where she enjoys making sure the patients stay is as comfortable and stress free as possible.
When she’s not caring for our patients, you’ll find her enjoying the great outdoors by foot, on two wheels or in her paraglider!
Sheree
Veterinary Nurse
Sheree has been nursing for over 20 years and still loves her role. Having worked in practice in Brisbane she joined Tamborine Mountain in 2011 where, in addition to working at the clinic she began rescuing & rehoming animals. A year ago Sherree moved down the mountain to Yarrabilba and joined the team at our Yarrabilba Hospital where she has become an integral part of the practice.
Sheree has 3 rescue Greyhounds and more than a few cats. In her spare non-animal time she enjoys mosaics, art, swimming, bike riding and hikes with friends.
Jade
Veterinary Nurse
Jade started at Yarrabilba by completing work placement while studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at TAFE. As she gained more experience Jade joined us as a casual nurse and then once she had qualified, moved to a full-time position. Jade enjoys the fact that every day in a vet practice is different and says the best part of her role is assisting in surgery.
Jade has a Kelpie X named Tokyo who she takes for long beach walks when she has time off.
Melissa
Veterinary Nurse
Mel initially started working at our Tamborine Mountain clinic about 5 years ago, having been working in another local practice while gaining her vet nursing qualification. She moved to join the Yarrabilba Hospital just after it opened and is now one of the senior nurses here. Mel enjoys her varied role but is particularly interested in nursing our hospitalised patients during their stay.
When not working Mel spends time working her two Border Collies Cooper & Ralph. They travel South East Queensland competing in Herding, Agility & Frisbee competitions.
Michelle
Veterinary Nurse
Michelle joined the Yarrabilba Vet Hospital team in 2022.
She graduated from UQ with her Veterinary Technology degree in 2005 and has many years of experience in the veterinary industry. At Yarrabilba Vet Hospital she loves to take care of our hospital and surgical patients.
Her husband and 3 children share her love of animals with a menagerie at home including rescue dogs, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, a cockatiel and a pet snake.
Deb
Receptionist
Deb spends the rest of her time with family & friends and entertaining her young grandchildren.
Bree
Receptionist
Bree joined our team as a casual nurse, who worked across our four clinics. Bree is now a permanent staff member at our Yarrabilba clinic, providing compassion and care to both our patients and clients.
She previously worked at an animal rescue where she found her love for fostering and training all breeds. Now she continues to foster mainly puppies and kittens before they find there forever families. In her spare time, Bree likes being outdoors; surfing, hiking & most of all spending time training her dog named Spud.
